Tests

Haha. The Ateneo -deLa Salle schools' age-old rivalry has been brought to the fore again with the UAAP men's basketball games gracing the halls of the Araneta Coliseum. If Mikko were up to it, I know what he'd be saying to his Tito Bobet (a lasallite) right now: "La Salle, Bulok!" But at the moment, just when today is his first day of final exams, he's flat on his back in Merville---having been rushed to the Ateneo infirmary in a stretcher yesterday morning when he woke up with very high fever and his limbs started getting numb and he couldn't move them.
Long-distance parenting takes its toll when a mother gets a frantic call from a son thousands of miles away, telling her, "Mom, i'm so sick! I'm getting numb all over, I can't move!"--and all she can do is pray, get raised blood pressure, and make equally frantic calls and texts to dorm management and relatives.
Friends from all over begin praying for our son, some even forming 'prayer warrior' teams. The dorm director and his crew rush the boy to the infirmary in a stretcher they carry themselves all the way.
The relatives are priceless. Ate Trina drops her own exam preparations to be by her brother's side, spoonfeeding him with lugaw and Gatorade.Tita Q comes to the rescue at noon and whisks Mikko away to Medical City where a battery of tests are run. She practically loses a whole day's work as they wait all afternoon for the results of the tests.Grama waits at home in Merville, ready to stuff her apo with a hot dinner and a lecture on keeping healthy. Afterwards a sponge bath and ice pack are in order to bring his fever down. Not to mention she has him sleeping in another bed by her side...All of these efforts, done out of love and necessity, we will forever be grateful for, Rene and I.
Today and tomorrow, Mikko would have been hurdling his final exams and finishing off his first semester. By Monday, he has a ready ticket to bring him home for the sembreak. However the events of yesterday has changed all that. How things will work out in terms of getting his exams deferred and scheduling make-up exams and postponing his trip home is a big question mark at the moment. But because we have a great God, we know all things will work out in the end. In all this, we ask for your prayers.
